Trees in colorful light at night.

View On Black

There's a tree outside

that cries for mercy.

It doesn't know that I hear it.

But when the sun sinks it weeps

and my heart breaks for it.

It must be lonely being a tree.

I love watching this Sumac tree through the summer.

In its good ol' days! I think this was before it was aquired by Westfield. Note that the Civic Centre below is now Tea Tree Plus and the McDonalds (top right) wasn't built until the early 1980s.

The first extension (housing Big W & Woolworths) was built in 1986, the second (housing Hoyts Cinemas) in the early 1990s and the third (housing K-Mart & Coles) in the late 1990s.

I needed some quiet time late in the afternoon, I went up to the Wendover Canal for a walk at sunset.

A wooded hillside in Zealandia, Wellington, looks spectacular in the sunshine.

Tree identification of Leyland cypress, Cupressus × leylandii foliage. See adjacent photos of foliage on same tree that isn't so easy to identify.

My office tree. I added leaves and grass today. Once we've actually moved into the house (THIS WEEKEND!), I'll start adding more leaves and colours, textures and shading, and interesting creatures in the branches.

Every year we go up and get our Christmas Tree in the mountains, such a great tradition. And I always have to try and get some version of this shot. My mountain man carrying our tree into the light.

Lonely tree... well not really there were like a hundred people walking here. I hated it, I love to go on walks (+/- 8km long walks) to clear my head and take the occasional snapshot and stupid me thought it was a good idea to go the Archerberg to do that. Big mistake it was crawling with tourist :-(

Anyhow I really like this picture but really couldn't figure out how process it without over-processing it so here it is with a few minor tweaks.

Used the good old Samyang 35mm for this shot!

Copper Top is very good at climbing trees but it's rare that I see him doing it when I happen to have my camera with me. As such, I grabbed this photo whilst he was perched near the top of the tree. I also used this rare combination of coincidences to film his climbing antics.

Tree at my Window

by: Robert Frost

Tree at my window, window tree,

My sash is lowered when night comes on;

But let there never be curtain drawn

Between you and me.

Vague dream-head lifted out of the ground,

And thing next most diffuse to cloud,

Not all your light tongues talking aloud

Could be profound.

But tree, I have seen you taken and tossed,

And if you have seen me when I slept,

You have seen me when I was taken and swept

And all but lost.

That day she put our heads together,

Fate had her imagination about her,

Your head so much concerned with outer,

Mine with inner, weather.

Playing around in the yard this morning with the pear tree and DoF. I swore I was going to cut this Bradford Pear down to the stump last summer after the second thunderstorm broke it apart. But it's a beautiful old tree and gives a constant source for photos.

These water droplets reminded me of tears, and I really liked the bokeh!

I think this palm tree had one to many drinks at Margaritaville as it was contorted in an unsual shape. It cannot even stand up straight! :P But I thought it made for an interesting perspective for a photograph...
